Alice Shapiro

Alice Shapiro's third collection of poems, Saltian, was released in 2012 by UnboundContent Press. Poems from Saltian and her first book, Cracked, were nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She was also nominated twice for Georgia Author of the Year. Shapiro studied with William Packard, founder of the NY Quarterly and professor at NYU. She is also winner of the Bill C. Davis Drama Award for a one-act verse tragedy (Four Voices) that was performed at the Turner Cassity Literary Festival in 2011. Shapiro currently serves as Poet Laureate of Douglasville, Georgia, has written a full-length musical and is producing a 10-minute musical project for Summer 2014.
