Born and raised in the suburbs of NYC in a traditional Italian family, I ventured out to explore the world and have had an exciting career working for food and travel magazines. As I traveled the world I became an adventurous epicure. In 2006 when my mom was diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer's, I realized I never learned how to cook the traditional Italian food I was raised with. I decided to get these recipes down before my mom's memory was list forever. Part personal memoir/ part cookbook/ part info on Alzheimer's, this book is meant to raise awareness about this horrific disease. Every 69 seconds someone develops it. 5.4 million people in the US are living with it. 1 out of 10 people over the age of 65 have it. We are in an epidemic! By 2025 1 in 7 people will have it if we don't put an end to it. It is the only disease in the US that is on the increase with no way to prevent, cure or slow it. A portion of net proceeds is donated to the Alzheimer's Association.
