DALIH SEMBIRING was born in Binjai, North Sumatra on May 4, 1983. His short stories have been published in various media, such as Indonesia’s literary magazines “Horison” and “ON/OFF,” Indonesia’s short story journal “Jurnal Cerpen Indonesia,” as well as “The Jakarta Post,” an English-language newspaper. Dalih was a contributor for “The Jakarta Post” under the pseudonym Daniel Rose. He spent a year working as a features reporter with “Jakarta Globe,” also an English-language newspaper for which he is now a contributor. He co-authored a teenlit titled “Cha untuk Chayang” with his friend Abmi Handayani. His solo novel “Nel” is about the contrast between homosexuality and militarism in his hometown.
