Helen Dawes Brown

Helen Dawes Brown was born in Concord, Mass., and spent her early life there. She graduated from Vassar College in 1878, and spent four years teaching at the college's preparatory department. She moved to New York City and taught English Literature at the Brearley School while also conducting private "parlor lectures."
