Ian Colquhoun

Ian Colquhoun is an author from Livingston and now based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

He has been severely disabled since losing his legs in an unprovoked assault and arson attack whilst living in Ireland in 2002. After years of surgery and painful rehabilitation, Ian amazed everyone by not only learning to walk again with prosthetic legs, but by also utilising a talent for writing that he had hitherto tried to hide, his first seven books being published between 2007 and 2013, with many more to follow.

Ian also acts now, and has been on many TV shows and films, both as an actor and as an ‘extra’, as well as appearing as himself on numerous occasions. He also has vast experience as a casualty simulation advisor to the emergency services, often doing dangerous stunts and showing people how to ‘handle’ amputees.

His primary field of expertise in writing is military history and true life stories/biographies. His first book ‘Burnt’ was featured on TV’s ‘Richard and Judy’ show and was a highly placed nominee for ‘Book of the Year’ on Amazon in 2008.

Ian studied history at the University of Edinburgh, but prior to that was a forklift truck driver until he lost his legs.
