JZ Murdock is a filmmaker, writer, author and, screenwriter living in Bremerton, Washington.

Tired of waiting on getting a screenplay produced, I finally started making my own films back in 2019. My 2020 film, "Gumdrop", a short horror has won several festival awards like "Best Horror Short", "Best Noir Film" and, was a "Jean Luc Goddard Award" nominee.

Unable to find an animator to work on the poem about WWI trench warfare related to Maurice Ravel and his piece, Bolero it was built into his latest 2021 film, an antiwar, filmic poem and documentary titled, "Pvt. Ravel's Bolero", which so far has 23 international awards.

THE TEENAGE BODYGUARD, a true crime story from a week in 1974 when he was asked to protect a murder witness from the Tacoma mafia (yes, that was a real thing). This screenplay is starting to get attention. THE TEENAGE BODYGUARD.

Coverages (The Blacklist, Bluecat Screenplay Contest) say things like, "This should be pursued into production", and "Why isn't this on screen already?" From entertainment attorney Michael Donaldson, "What an interesting story. Very well researched. This kind of the story is a perennial favorite. it is just the kind of story that is being gobbled up in the market right now. It is a good time for this story."

As an author, Murdock's first published book is an epic tale of horror and science fiction with a touch of Lovecraft and Clive Barker, titled, DEATH OF HEAVEN. His collection of older short horror and sci fi stories is included in ANTHOLOGY OF EVIL.

ANTHOLOGY OF EVIL Volume II Books I & II ("THE UNWRITTEN") contain newer works including stories included in other anthologies and in a hard sci fi magazine.

Murdock received his B.A. in Psychology from WWU with a minor in creative writing. He was a Sr. Technical Writer for years and retired on 9/11/16 to devote his full time to writing fiction and screenplays. He is also involved in local independent films. Of late he has been involved in the Studio 724 artist, writer and creatives community in Port Orchard, WA.

His blog, Murdockinations.com has been online since 2010 with now over 1600 posts.

GRAY AND LOVER THE HEARTH TALES INCIDENT INCIDENT (semi-finalist in the Circus Road Films screenplay contest) is a horror film.

AHRIMAN, a sci fi screenplay of two worlds, a violent desert planet and its prince/prophet (Ahriman), which is the first screenplay he wrote at the end of his college career after various writing classes and a year-long series of a team script and screenwriting classes at Western Washington University

Others screenplays... POPSICLE DEATH (pay your popsicle vendor kids...no, really! Don't screw around with this!), SARAH (Alzheimer's meets Twilight Zone...or is it the other way around?), COLORADO LOBSTERS (treat your employees well, they may have a deranged MIT student as a child), POOR LORD RITCHIE'S ANSWER (Don't mess with wizards when you're a pirate, it may come back to bite you from that prequel to this tale (long story)), DARK OF KNIGHT (author meets JZ Murdock for an adaptation of her paranormal romance novel), SEALED IN LIES (another author meets JZ Murdock for an adaptation of her espionage romance novel).
