James A. Garfield

Charles Guiteau, a frustrated office-seeker, assassinated James Abram Garfield, the twentieth president of the United States in 1881.

After the assassination of Garfield, Chester Alan Arthur served from 1881 as the twenty-first president of the United States.

After Abraham Lincoln, someone killed him. After that of William Henry Harrison, his term ranks as the second shortest in history. From 4 March 1881, he held office for a total of just six months and fifteen days until his death.

Our stratification is like the ocean, where every individual drop is free to move, and where from the sternest depths of the mighty deep any drop may come up to glitter on the highest wave that rolls.”
