Jason Hightman lives in California with his wife, Kim, and young daughter, Hannah, who has the magical ability to make anyone laugh even on their dreariest days. After studying dragon hunting and alchemy at the University of Southern California, Hightman has spent the last few years doing battle with the serpents in Los Angeles, who use automobiles to clog motorways impenetrably. You can often find him in his armor, prowling for good books and hunting any nasty dragons disguised as cynical critics. He prays he never runs into the latter. Hightman hopes the Saint of Dragons series combines the best elements of old-fashioned swordplay adventure, Japanese comic books, cinematic action, heroic archetypes, and unusual villains--all things he likes in the stories he reads himself.

“Alaythia smiled sympathetically. "The Coast of the Dead. Sounds lovely, doesn't it?" Simon tried to smile back. "Someone in a good mood named that place.”
“The Venetian seemed to have a thing for gems and trinkets. Simon wondered if these items had been taken from victims.Aldric caught some of the gems as they fell, and pocketed them.You're just going to take those?" asked Simon, incredulous.How do you think i got you into that school of yours?" answered Aldric, catching another windfall. "Spoils of war.”
“As rain began to fall, Aldric worried the old machines would not be able to survive the weather. "Hand me that oil can!" he shouted to Siomon.Magic machines need oil?" asked Simon.Of course they need oil. They're not perfect.”
“Serpentfire can burn for a very long time if the bagic is strong," said Aldric. "It's hard to handle, that kind of fire, it seems to have a mind of its own, but it can be a good tool if you have nothing else. You never, ever want to use it unless you need it. I keep it around in case of dire circumstances. I hate to admit that anything Serpentine can be useful." Absentmindedly he picked up a Dragon's claw from a pile of them on the tabe, and used it to stratch his neck.”
