Born in Fremont, Ohio, I spent most summer days jumping off the lower rock outcroppings of the Gibsonburg quarry. The water in the quarry was jade green from mining waste, and I'm fairly certain that my four sisters and I glowed in the dark on moonless nights.

In 1975, at age twenty, I packed my car with all that I owned and my collie, Brownie, and the two of us moved to southern California. We lived in my car while I worked at a gas station in Garden Grove where customers adored Brownie and gave him treats. We spent weekends parking our home at Dog Beach near San Diego, and I must say that Brownie garnered way more attention than his sidekick...me.

I attended Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California, but the college life didn't agree with our semi-homelessness, and I withdrew from classes on a regular basis. I was hired as a maintenance worker at a hospital in Laguna Hills, California, where Brownie and I took up residency in the hospital's abandoned warehouse..illegally. A few months later someone stole Brownie, and I was caught (no squatter's rights I guess) and fired.

I began life after Brownie by working as a minimum-wage draftsman for a civil engineering firm in Irvine, California. I was a terrible draftsman and nearly got fired. As much as I struggled as a draftsman, however, I had a nack for engineering design. Once I understood the basics, I could clearly see the three-dimensional designs in my head. After that civil engineering seemed easy. Within five years I was the office manager of a civil engineering firm, and after age twenty-eight I owned and operated civil engineering firms until I retired from engineering in 2005.

In 1991 my wife and I moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho...mountains, lakes, trees, fresh air, clean tap water. It's a bit of heaven on earth. That's when I began getting the urge to write novels. It was a nagging feeling at first, but as time wore on the urge turned to need...then to addiction. I can't seem to stop writing stories in my head. Stories from an different point of view that, perhaps, no one has ever thought of before. I am excited to write; with each new situation presented I feel the characters, laugh, feel sad or fear, anger and once in a while I get so engulfed in the moment that I write something that completly surprises me...as though I literally become each character in the story, live in that moment, and see things clearly from each person's point of view all at once. Thank goodness that I'm nowhere near a public place when I write because it would be the straight jacket for me.

There are lots of stories I want to share with you, and I hope you want to join me in the coming years...if only to escape the bonds of your own life for just a while. I will work tirelessly to keep you on the edge of your seat and wondering What could THIS possibly have to do with THAT?

For the past few hundred years science fiction has lead the way to science fact: we fly inside metal birds, we have rockets that take us to the mooon, and we can instantly talk to (or spy on) one-another around the world. My debut novel, NAKED BRAIN, points science fiction in a whole new direction that someday may become science fact. I am currently writing UNEARTHING and that novel will have you glued to your seat as it stretches the possibilities even further.

Thanks for binding our consciousness through the written word, and have an exciting life.
