About the Author: Pat Frayne is the award-winning author of Topaz the Conjure Cat Books for middle-grade kids who love cats, fairies, and high adventure. This is a series about a unique breed of cat endowed with a paranormal power. However, this power must be taught and practiced to be perfected. Orphaned at a young age and as the last of his kind, Topaz struggles to learn how to summon this power and how to wield it beyond the basics he learned in his early years. It's up to him as a Yellow Conjure Cat to uphold the legacy of his breed, to protect his king, his kingdom, and its inhabitants.

These fast-paced adventure fantasies are for parents and children alike. Although Frayne's books were written wholly for the reader's entertainment, there is a strong emphasis on the value of friendship, loyalty, and courage.

Frayne's granddaughter, Caitlin was the inspiration for the dilemma in her second book, Topaz and the Plum-Gista Stone. And she introduced the character Daisy, a young fawn with hazel eyes. Cait was age nine at the time. Cait and her grandmother both share a love for cats, fairies and all things magical.

Topaz and the Green Fairies, Frayne's latest book, earned the 2016 Children's Literary Classics Seal of Approval and the 2016 Literary Classics Silver Award for Chapter Book.

“Favorite Quotations.I speak my mind because it hurts to bite my tongue. The worth of a book is measured by what you carry away from it. It's not over till it's over. Imagination is everything. All life is an experiment. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls the butterfly.”
