Patricia Marie Madeleine Godelieve De Martelaere was a Flemish philosopher, professor, author and essayist.
De Martelaere studied philosophy at the Catholic University of Leuven, where in 1984 she obtained a PhD in philosophy on a thesis on the skepticism of David Hume. She taught as professor at the Catholic University of Leuven. She was also linked to the Catholic University of Brussels as a professor. Her publications include works about David Hume, Arthur Schopenhauer, Friedrich Nietzsche, Sigmund Freud, Ludwig Wittgenstein and Jacques Derrida.
Besides her philosophical activities, she was also active as a writer of several novels such as Littekens and Het onverwachte antwoord
