R. Elizabeth Carpenter

R. Elizabeth Carpenter is an editorial professional living in suburban Chicago with her husband and cantankerous white tabby, Gato. Gato loves nothing more than those long, lazy periods of time when Carpenter sits at his shoulder tap, tap, tapping away at the computer, working on her novels while he sleeps in his cushy bed below.

Carpenter is a widow who has walked the widow’s path and survived to recapture and redefine her own authentic new life. Carpenter has a master’s degree in writing and has been putting words together to make stories since she was 10 years old. From a very early age, she noticed that some of the most important issues in her life were issues cloaked in mystery and lies. Her writing mission is to create characters living authentic lives rooted in true female realities. Mark Twain’s struggle for authenticity and truth resonates with her—it’s very hard if not impossible to write authentically without blinking—a challenge worth striving for.
