British film and stage actor. Among his foremost stage credits are Tom Stoppard's plays "Arcadia" and "Rock'n'Roll". He starred in more than 40 films and TV productions, including many literary adaptations (among others: "Middlemarch", "Cold Comfort Farm", "Victory", "The Woodlanders", "Shakespeare Retold: The Taming of the Shrew", "The Pillars of the Earth", Michael Dibdin's "Zen" mysteries) and recorded various audiobooks.
