Ruthe Rosen shares the legacy of her daughter, Karla Asch-Rosen, in the book Let It Be: My Daughters Legacy. At 14 years old, Karla visited the doctor for a sinus infection. There, they discovered an inoperable brain tumor. Over the next year, Karla inspired people across the globe with her steadfast faith, optimism, and motto Give it to God and let it be.Inspired by Karla, Rosen co-founded The Let It Be Foundation, Inc. in 2006 with her husband, Michael Rosen. The non-profit organization supports families with children facing life-threatening illnesses, seeking to restore a sense of normalcy to their lives. Rosen serves as the president. Since establishing in 2006, the foundation has raised $500,000 to help 18 families find peace in the midst of illness. The Let It Be Foundation helps families through creative methods, such as: bedroom makeovers, housekeeping and gardening services, sibling care, camp scholarships, and medical accessories.Because the foundation focuses on helping children, each year a Junior Advisory Team is selected to give junior high and high school students an opportunity to get involved. Kids 4 Kids Lemonade Stands have raised $16,400 and the Junior Advisory Team has raised over $50,000 total since the foundation launched. The Junior Advisory Team also participates in projects such as Reading Together at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and room enhancement projects, where they redecorate the bedroom of a child dealing with illness. An annual 5k Plus Walk/Run is also held by the foundation. In 2008, over 200 volunteers and 1100 participants raised $43,000 to help families in need.Rosen received the Soroptimists Making a Difference Award as well as the Community Hero Award from the City of Chino Hills, Calif. for her work with The Let It Be Foundation.
