Stéphane Lacroix is an associate professor of political science at Sciences Po in Paris and a researcher at Sciences Po's Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches Internationales (CERI). He was previously a post-doctoral scholar at Stanford University. He wrote his MA dissertation on the 1948 revolution in Yemen, and his PhD dissertation on the political sociology of Islamist movements in Saudi Arabia.
Stéphane Lacroix's work deals with political Islam in the Arab World, with a focus on Salafism. He has published numerous articles in academic journals and a few books, including "Awakening Islam: The Politics of Religious Dissent in Contemporary Saudi Arabia" (Harvard University Press, 2011). This book was named "Best Book on the Middle East 2011" on Foreign Policy's Middle East Channel.
