Taufiq Ismail

Taufik Ismail was born in Bukittinggi West Sumatera on June 25, 1935. He was prominent Indonesian writer and made influence in Indonesian literature the post-Sukarno regime. He was one of pioneer Generation of '66. He was complated his education in FKHP University of Indonesia. Before active as a writer, he taught in Institut Pertanian Bogor. In 1964, he assigned Manifesto Kebudayaan and consequence stopped as a teacher by government. He compiled many of poems, the famous are Malu (Aku) Jadi Orang Indonesia, Tirani dan Benteng, Tirani, Benteng, Buku Tamu Musim Perjuangan, Sajak Ladang Jagung, Kenalkan, Saya Hewan, Puisi-puisi Langit, Prahara Budaya : Kilas Balik Ofensif Lekra/PKI dkk, Ketika Kata Ketika Warna, Seulawah-Antologi Sastra Aceh. Bored with his serious style, in 1970 Taufik created his poems mixed with humor. Taufik has many of regards, such as Cultural Visit Award from Australia government (1977) and South East Asia Write Award from king of Thailand (1994).
