Teresa Patterson

Teresa Patterson wanted to write since grade school. She discovered Science Fiction in Jr. High, and was forever hooked. But just reading SF wasn’t enough. By High School she was writing for and editing a fan-fiction magazine called Vulstar. The writing bug stuck. She has gone on to write a number of short stories for anthologies such as Dragon’s Eye, edited by Christopher Stasheff, Time of the Vampires, edited by P.N. Elrod, and Here be Dragons, Tales of Dragoncon, edited by Bill Fawcett. as well as numerous nonfiction articles.

With Robert Jordan she wrote The World of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time, an illustrated guide to that series that made the genre hardcover bestseller lists for several publications. That was followed by a collaboration with best selling author Terry Brooks and illustrator David Cherry titled The World of Shannara, with an updated version produced in 2009. Not content to work in one genre, she also ghosted a military adventure for a Navy Seal, penned a series of humorous historical essays in You Said What? and But it Looked Good On Paper, both edited by Bill Fawcett, and collaborated, with the late Robert Asprin, and Eric Del Carlo, on a gritty murder mystery set in the streets of New Orleans’ infamous French Quarter titled No Quarter.

Also interested in art, she worked part time as an art agent. She also wrote for and edited the ASFA Quarterly arts magazine for the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists and served over ten years as an officer in ASFA including two terms as President. As Pegasus Management, her Team Pegasus crew organized and ran art shows and print shops for SF conventions throughout the country including shows for World Fantasy, the World Science Fiction Convention, Dragoncon, and her own Galaxy Fair. In 1993 Team Pegasus was awarded a Chesley Award for their work at the Worldcon Print Shop. In 2004 she was awarded the Chesley Award for overall personal service to ASFA.

When not writing she works as a balloon sculptor and show horse trainer. Before becoming a writer she organized SF conventions, earned a Master rating in costuming, worked as a movie extra in films and ran a jousting and horseback combat show. Her other interests include scuba diving, Tai Chi, medieval re-enactment, archery, and being a mom to an ever growing number of cats and raccoons.

She currently lives in Fort Worth, Texas.
