“He narrows his eyes.“Is this true?” He sighs. “It is, isn’t it? That’s all I need.”
“Razor noticed. “You know him,” he said, narrowing his eyes. I nodded. He arched a brow. “Hmm…know him or know-know him?” “That’s none of your business,” I snapped.”
“Tell me it's not true."He sighed. "Fine. It's not true."...And yet..."Are you lying?"He rolled his eyes. "Of course I'm lying.""Not cool." I muttered.Kyle shrugged. "I didn't want you to start hyperventilating again." His hair fell over his eyes and he brushed it aside. "I figured annoying you was safer than admitting anything.”
“His client needs him, he says. Needs him? But isn’t he needed at home?”
“There’s sex, and there’s…this.” He met my eyes. “Just being with someone like this. This isn’t something that can be bought or sold, and I couldn’t manufacture it for someone no matter how much they tried to pay me for it.” He ran the backs of his fingers down my cheek. “That’s why I’m here tonight. Because I needed this. And here, with you, is the only place I can get it.” He swallowed hard. “Or give it.”
“It’s really over, isn’t it?”He laughed and pulled me into his lap. “That’s the beauty of it all. Nothing’s over. It’s just a new start.”
