“Our whole American way of life is a great war of ideas, and librariansare the arms dealers selling weapons to both sides”
“Nations tend to see the other side's war atrocities as systemic and indicative of their culture and their own atrocities as justified or the acts of stressed combatants. In my travels, I sense a smoldering resentment towards WWII Japanese behavior among some Americans. Ironically, these feelings are strongest among the younger American generation that did not fight in WWII. In my experience, the Pacific vets on both sides have made their peace. And in terms of judgments, I will leave it to those who were there. As Ray Gallagher, who flew on both atomic missions against Hiroshima and Nagasaki argues, "When you're not at war you're a good second guesser. You had to live those years and walk that mile.”
“Why are we sitting way back here?""This way we can see the whole room and do some recon.""Great, here we go with the black op lingo. Were you a Navy SEAL or some special forces officer in a past life?" Sally asked."It's a gift. It comes so naturally that you think I've had formal training." Jen winked."Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. And, by the way, Hogwarts accepted you and is awaiting your arrival.""Ha ha, good one," Jen said dryly. "You have my vote – you'll be mayor in no time.”
“He (Tristan) pushed her onto her back and braced his arms on either side of her shoulders as he ranged his body over hers, nudging his cock against her in the most intimate way possible. With the slightest flex, he’d be buried inside her—without a condom. And she didn’t even possess the strength to tell him no.”
“We're not destroying the world because we're clumsy. We're destroying the worldbecause we are, in a very literal and deliberate way, at war with it.”
“I stared at her in amazement. "How do you even live with yourself?"..."You're willing to sell children to a foreign government so they can be used as weapons, possibly against other Americans. I don't get it. Were you hiding behind a door on morals and ethics day?...You couldn't mother someone if they shot five gallons of estrogen into your veins.”
“What about me?” Frances asked.“The butler,” Harriet replied without even a second of hesitation.Frances’s mouth immediately opened to protest.“No, no,” Harriet said. “It’s the best role, I promise. You get to do everything.”“Except be a unicorn,” Daniel murmured.Frances tilted her head to the side with a resigned expression.“The next play,” Harriet finally gave in. “I shall find a way to include a unicorn in the one I’m working on right now.”Frances pumped both fists in the air. “Huzzah!”
