“I clicked the button to unlock my car and it beeped cheerily. “We can go in my car,” I said and motioned to it like I was Vana White on Wheel of Fortune. -Sophie to Caeden”
“I’ll be back as quick as I can,” I said awkwardly.“Sure.”“Stay cool.”“Don’t worry, I’m not going to punch anybody.”I trotted to my car. As I slipped behind the wheel I heard the little girl ask Arnie loudly, “Why is your face all messy like that, mister?”
“Wake up, Sophie,” Caeden said against my ear.“Go away,” I mumbled. “Rise and shine,” he said and shook me slightly.“I’m going to stab you in the eye,” I mumbled into the pillow.“Ah, you wouldn’t do that, you like my pretty blue eyes too much.”
“Maybe you should date him?” I said.“Ugh no thanks,” said Caeden and then grinned. “He’s not as good of a kisser as you. I don’t think I could survive off of Murphy’s kisses. But yours… Your kisses are like heaven.”“Glad to know that you’ve made out with your dog, Caeden,” I said and punched his leg from where I sat on the floor with Archie who had curled up in a little ball on my lap. -Sophie and Caeden”
“Death is like my car. It takes me where I want to go.”
“Maybe I should go put on my ragged white dress and stone necklace and you can put on your leopard skin tunic and we can pedal in our stone car to the roadhouse before you go bowling with Barney and I go shopping with Betty, Fred. –Sadie”
