“Howlong did it take for a past to die?”
“What was I was dying for? The sins of the past? The wrongs of the present? Did it even matter?”
“It is not only species of animal that die out, but whole species of feeling. And if you are wise you will never pity the past for what it did not know, but pity yourself for what it did.”
“Why did it take the threat of dying to truly notice how exquisite a sunrise or sunset could be?”
“If you gave someone your heart and they died, did they take it with them? Did you spend the rest of forever with a hole inside you that couldn't be filled?”
“As it turned out, though, it was a lot easier to say that someone deserved to die for what they did than it was to take the responsibility to make that happen.”
