“Edward thought he was going to ruin Bella's life and he made her happy. And that really was everything for him.”
“I think it’s sad that we’ll never know her,” Chase said. She glanced over at him suspiciously. “Think of how many people there are in the world that you’ll never know. Like that guy right there,” he said, nodding toward the car that whizzed by them. “What’s that guy’s name? Where’s he going? Is he happy with his life? Did he want Bella to end up with Edward or Jacob?”
“Edward's only human Bella. He's going to react like any other boy.”
“Elle had gone off in another direction and made him swear to ‘whatever twisted deity he believed in’ that he wasn’t going to follow her. Really made him wonder where the hell she was going.”
“Is it him or the thought of him that made her happy ?”
“Well . . . he lets it ruin his life. He gets so obsessed with going after the one thing that hurt him that he loses sight of everything else. He becomes isolated from everyone and everything. Paranoid. He feels like he can't trust anyone around him ever. In the end, he loses everything, even his life. And for what? Total stupidity, if you ask me.”
