John Christopher Depp II is a three-time Academy Award-nominated, Golden Globe- and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning American actor, best known for his frequent portrayals of offbeat and eccentric characters such as Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Ichabod Crane in the film adaptation of Sleepy Hollow.
He has collaborated with director and close friend Tim Burton prolifically in films such as Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994), Sleepy Hollow (1996), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Corpse Bride (2005), and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007). Depp has also garnered acclaim for his portrayals of real life figures such as Edward Wood Jr., Joseph Pistone and George Jung.
